Día de Países Bajos - The Netherlands' Day

Hoy es un día especial en Países Bajos, el día de la abdicación de la Reina Beatriz a favor de su hijo el Príncipe Guillermo Alejandro (Willem Alexander en Neerlandés). Antes el 30 de Abril, era conocido como el día de la Reina (Koninginnedag en Neerlandés) y ahora será conocido como el día del Rey (Koningsdag en Neerlandés). Todos los ciudadanos de este país se visten de color naranja porque es el color oficial. He puesto una foto de algunos símbolos de este país, un tulipán naranja, un par de zuecos y un corazón hecho por nuestra prima Lilian. Un pequeño homenaje a mi marido y su familia en el día de su país.

Today it is a special day in the Netherlands, the day of the abdication of the Queen Beatrix in favour of her son the Prince William Alexander (Willem Alexander in Dutch). Reciclar cinta de Washi tape para decorar clips - Recycling Washi Tape to decorate clips

La cinta es algo que es muy fácil reciclar consiguiendo diferentes usos. He reciclado cinta de washi tape para decorar unos clips que tendrán un uso como punto de lectura en libretas, libros o agendas. Solo hay que cortar un trozo de 6, 7 u 8 cms de cinta y meterla por un lado del clip, después pegarla y cortar el extremo de diferente forma. Se puede reciclar cinta tipo washi tape o cinta aislante, y usar clips son grandes.

Tape is something that is very easy to recycle obtaining different uses. I have recycled some washi tape to decorate a few paper clips that I will use as a point of reading in notebooks, books or agendas. It is only necessary to cut a chunk of 6, 7 or 8 cms of tape and put it on the one side of the paper clip, later, it sticks and cuts the end of a different form. Tape can be recycled using washi tape or insulating tape. Paper clips are big.

Esta Primavera el campo está precioso por lo mucho que ha llovido en el Sur de España. Hemos recogido algunas flores de amapola para adornar nuestra casa. Aquí están.

Día del libro - Day of the Book

Hoy 23 de Abril, festividad de San Jorge es el Día del Libro en España. En este día fallecieron Miguel de Cervantes y William Shakespeare. También hoy se entrega el Premio más prestigioso en Literatura y Lengua Española llamado: Premio Cervantes. Todas las Bibliotecas y escuelas realizan diferentes actividades para fomentar el hábito de la lectura.
A mí siempre me ha gustado mucho leer, es algo mágico. Respeto mucho los libros y me gusta cuidarlos para que no se estropeen. A veces, reutilizo los folletos o catálogos para proteger mi libro. Además, si voy leyendo en el tren o en el metro evito las miradas curiosas acerca de cuál es mi lectura.
Os enseño aquí mi idea de protección para los libros.

Today on April 23th, festivity of Saint George is the Day of the Book in Spain. On this day Miguel de Cervantes and William Shakespeare died. Today is also the chosen day to give the most prestigious Prize in Language and Literature in Spanish called: Premio Cervantes. All Libraries and Schools realize different activities to promote the habit of the reading.
Always, I have liked to read very much, it is something magic. I respect very much the books and I like to take care of them in order that they do not get damaged. Sometimes, I re-use the brochures or catalogues to protect my book. In addition, if I am reading in the train or in the underground I avoid the curious looks over of which it is my reading.
I show you here my idea of protection for the books.

Marcapáginas de fieltro - Bookmark of felt

He hecho un marcapáginas (o punto de lectura para un libro) para mi amiga Ingeborg. He usado un trozo de cartulina blanca de 20 cm de largo x 3 cm de ancho. Después, he recortado en fieltro blanco una figura lo más parecida a su perro, su adorada mascota. Le he cosido un lazo rojo con hilo rojo y un ojo con hilo negro. Aquí os muestro este marcapáginas.

I have made a bookmark (or point of reading for a book) for my friend Ingeborg. I have used a piece of white cardboard of 20 cm of length x 3 cm of width. Later, I have cut in white felt a figure the most similar to her dog, her adored pet. I have sewed a red bow with red thread and an eye with black thread. Here I show you this bookmark.

Etiquetas para regalo - Label for presents

Para decorar los regalos he realizado unas etiquetas. He usado papel de regalo de flores, cartulina de color verde, pegamento, tijeras, lápiz, goma de borrar, un perforador, una regla y algo de cuerda de la que se usa para cocinar. He cortado unos rectángulos de 7 cm de largo x 4,5 cm de ancho. He cortado dos esquinas y he pegado el papel de regalo encima. Después he hecho un agujero con el perforador. He cortado un trozo de cuerda de 30 cm y la he doblado y atado a la etiqueta a través del agujero. Ahora solo falta escribir el nombre de la persona a quién destino el regalo y ponerla en el regalo.

To decorate some presents I have made a few labels. I have used flowers gift paper, green colour cardboard, a bit of glue, a pair of scissors, a pencil, an eraser, a hole punch, a rule and something of rope or baker twine which one is used to cook. I have cut four rectangles of 7 cm of length x 4,5 cm of width. I have cut two corners and have glued the gift paper on them. Later I have done a hole with the hole punch. I have cut a chunk of baker twine of 30 cm and I have folded and tie to the label across the hole. Now it is only necessary to write the name of the person to whom I destine the gift and put it on the gift.

Broche de fieltro - Brooch of felt

Para mi amiga Cécile, he realizado un broche de fieltro con forma de flor. He usado fieltro blanco, abalorios negros, pegamento de contacto y un cierre especial de broche. Solo tienes que recortar tres trozos de fieltro y los unes cosiendo cuatro abalorios de color negro. Detrás, con pegamento fuerte pegas un broche especial y le pones un libro grueso encima para que se pegue bien. Aquí muestro el making off y el broche.

For my friend Cécile, I have realized a brooch of felt with form of a flower. I have used white felt, black glass beads, contact glue and a special closing for brooch. You have only to cut three chunks of felt and join them sewing four black glass beads. Behind of it, you stick using strong glue a special closing for brooch and put a thick book on it in order that it sticks well. I show here the making off and the brooch.

  

Brazalete reciclando sellos usados de correos - Bracelet recycling used postage stamps

En Primavera, tengo varios Cumpleaños de amigas. He decidido hacer un pequeño regalo para cada una de ellas. Para mi amiga S., he hecho una pulsera reciclando sellos usados de Alemania que ella me envía a menudo para mi colección. Solo hay que pegar los sellos en el brazalete y echar encima laca como la que se utiliza para fijar la pintura al óleo y trabajos manuales. Después, he metido el brazalete en una bolsita de organza. Aquí os lo muestro.

In Spring, I have several Birthdays of friends. I have decided to make a small gift for each of them. For my friend S., I have made a bracelet recycling some used postage stamps from Germany that she sends me quite often for my collection. It is only necessary to glue the stamps on bracelet and to punt  on them a bit of lacquer as the one that is in use for fixing the oil paint and some crafts. Later, I have put the bracelet in a organza bag. Here I show you.

Las etiquetas adhesivas para identificar los sobres suelen ser estandar y poco originales. He renovado algunas mías cambiando un poco su forma y dibujando algo encima. He usado como "plantilla" para dar una nueva forma la tapa de una caja y un cilindro. Después, he decorado un poco el borde. También se puede cambiar su contorno con ayuda de unas tijeras con dientes. Aquí están mis etiquetas renovadas.

The adhesive labels to identify envelopes are quite standard and slightly original. I have renewed some of mine changing a little bit their form and drawing something on them. I have used as "template" to give a new form the lid of a box and a cylinder. Later, I have decorated a bit the edge.  It is also possible to change their outline with the help of special scissors. Here are my renewed labels.

Mi suegra, Sylvia me había regalado tres cartulinas diferentes. Para reciclarlas en postales, las he doblado y añadido unos adornos que me había regalado mi amiga Netty y una pinza de mariposa. Así quedan mis nuevas postales.

My mother-in-law, Sylvia had given me three different cardboards. To recycle them in postcards, I have folded them and added a few adornments that I had received as small gift from my friend Netty and a  butterfly. There are my new postcards.
