En estos días de Junio, acaba el curso escolar en España. En mi país tenemos algo más de dos meses de vacaciones de Verano, debido al calor que hace durante los meses de Julio y Agosto. Mientras que apenas tenemos vacaciones en el resto del año escolar. Para nosotros no existen dos semanas en Otoño u otras dos semanas a finales de Invierno de vacaciones como en otros países.
Cómo reconocimiento al trabajo realizado por Maestros y Profesores en la educación de nuestros hijos, es común darles algún regalo o detalle al finalizar el curso. Quisiera mostraros un detalle para regalar a los Maestros y Profesores y que podéis añadir a otros bonitos regalos que tengáis pensados. Son unos bombones rellenos de manzana a los que les he hecho una etiqueta dónde se explica la razón por la cuál se les regalan manzanas a los Maestros. Espero que os gusten.
¿Por qué en algunos países los alumnos regalan manzanas a sus profesores?En algunos países es común que los alumnos regalen manzanas a los maestros y esta se ha convertido en prácticamente un símbolo de los docentes. Una de las teorías que tiene más fuerza es que la manzana simbolizaba la sabiduría en la Antigua Grecia y por eso los alumnos las regalan a sus profesores, como muestra de gratitud por haber compartido sus conocimientos con ellos. Hay otra teoría que sitúa el origen de la tradición en el norte de Europa, hacia el siglo XVII, donde algunas familias de agricultores que no podían pagar la educación de sus hijos compensaban a los profesores con manzanas. Esta práctica se extendió posteriormente por Estados Unidos. Incluso hay una teoría que sitúa el origen en las propiedades saludables de las manzanas. Hay un dicho inglés que dice “una manzana al día, mantiene lejos al doctor” (an apple a day keeps the doctor away). Dada la importante función de los docentes, es posible que se les regalaran manzanas como fuente de salud para que no enfermaran y no faltaran a clase.

In these days of June, the school year finishes in Spain. In my country we have just over two months of summer Holidays, due to the hot weather that we have during the months of July and August. Whereas we barely have holidays for the rest of the school year. For us there are no two weeks in Autumn or another two weeks at the end of Winter season as in other countries. As a recognition of the work done by Teachers in the education of our children, it is common to give them some gift or present at the end of the course. I would like to show you a gift to give to the Teachers that you can add to other beautiful gifts that you have in your mind. They are chocolates filled with apples to which I have made a label where the reason why apples are given to the Masters is told. I hope you like them.
Why do students give apples to their teachers in some countries? In some countries, it is common for pupils to give apples to teachers and teachers have become practically a symbol of teachers. One of the theories that has more strength is that the apple symbolized wisdom in Ancient Greece and therefore the students give them to their teachers, as a token of gratitude for sharing their knowledge with them. There is another theory that places the origin of the tradition in the north of Europe, towards the seventeenth century, where some families of farmers who could not afford their children’s education compensated teachers with apples. This practice later spread throughout the United States. There is even a theory that places the origin in the healthy properties of apples. There’s an English saying that says "one apple a day, keep the doctor away". Given the important role of teachers, apples may have been given as a source of health so that they did not become ill and did not miss class.
